Rovos Rail
Rovos Rail operates luxurious trains through some of the most spectacular scenery in Africa. It operates three trains of twenty carriages each. All have been splendidly refurbished with meticulous attention to detail, comfort and luxury. The train is drawn either by steam, diesel or electric locomotives, operating at various stages of the journey. It has become increasingly difficult to provide steam over the past years, but every effort is made to provide steam from their privately owned station in Pretoria. The trains each carry a maximum of 72 passengers, who are attended by discreet and caring Rovos Rail staff. Accommodation on board the train is of the highest standard, combining the opulence of pre-war travel with modern innovations. The spacious Royal Suites are very spacious (2 to a carriage)each have a private lounge, en suite bathroom and the king-sized beds. The Deluxe Suites(3 to a carriage) also have a lounge area and en suite bathroom. Use of traditional furnishings and period décor with exquisite craftsmanship evident in the fine wood paneling, has ensured that the atmosphere of elegance and grandeur is paramount throughout. Two first class chefs ensure that meals aboard Rovos Rail are superb, with outstanding South African wines to complement the meal. |
