The Desert Express has been winding through the beautiful Namib Desert since April 1998. It was designed and built by Namibia's leading engineers and designers using the most modern technology and equipment available. This train was truly born in Africa, and you will see the unique colors and textures of Africa reflected everywhere: the burnt amber leather upholstery, rich golden and red wood, the silver lightness of glass. Animal motifs taken from the surroundings tastefully echo the landscape through which you travel.
Desert Express
Desert Express has 24 en-suite compartments, which are fully air-conditioned. Compartments convert into bedrooms for the evening, and sleeps up to three people (2 Adults, 1 Child). These aforementioned compartments are contained in Kokerboom, Oryx, Springbok and Meerkat. The additional coaches Spitzkoppe and Welwitschia offers guests with unique opportunity to experience Namibian hospitality in our VIP lounge, restaurant and informal Bar.
A full bar service is offered in our Spitzkoppe Lounge, and our Welwitschia Restaurant serves a three course dinner, with a selection of starters, main courses and desserts. A full English breakfast is also served.
